Distance
Instead of using a 5' square grid, distances are more abstract.
- Close: If it's arm's length, it's close. All sword-fighting, lock-picking, fist punching action is close.
- Near: It's few hurried steps away, things within reach of long spears, or the distance a PC can move in a turn and still have time for an action.
- Far: Far takes you several seconds to run, movement of one whole turn. The distance of a basic bow-shot, as far as throwing a ball, or a challenging pistol shot. Weapons that can shoot Far need to perform a DEX Danger Roll upon use to roll for damage.
- Out of range: This is a distance unreachable in a single turn of movement. No effects can reach out of range.
